Our story

The Notre-Dame Hospital Foundation, Hearst, Ontario, began as the Fondation Tavernier-Gamelin, an organization founded in December 1993 by the Soeurs de la Charité de la Providence, then owners of the Notre-Dame Hospital in Hearst.

In 2005, following the sale of the hospital to the Ontario Ministry of Health, the Foundation's assets – including a generous $1.5 million donation from the Sisters of Charity of Providence – were transferred to a new entity: the Notre-Dame Hospital Foundation, Hearst, Ontario.

Today, the Foundation actively supports the hospital by carrying out several large-scale projects throughout the year.
